This week was kind of slow. I worked on a bunch of bank recs and did some filing. Kim showed me where the keys were for the "magic closet". Its a big cabinet with offices supplies. I put labels on the filing cabinets that Kim had moved earlier in the week. I didn't really do a whole lot this week now that I think about it... I went in to work Saturday and talked with Kim and Bobby about my car problems. Bobby told me to take my car to Redline Automotive down the street. They had it fixed in just a few hours for a reasonable price.
This week was great, as always. I did a few bank recs and a few payrolls for Bobby. I think I'm doing better with the bank recs. I can usually get the top and bottom to balance, but I always have trouble trying to get the left side to balance with the top and bottom. The payrolls are easy, but I cant ever remember how to print the right reports. I helped Kim make bags to give to clients, and I helped her pull/ put away files. Pulling files is easy, the hard part is trying to get the files back inside the cabinets. We've been trying to move files around so we have more room in the cabinets but its hard because you never know for sure how much room you should leave. If you don't leave enough room, you have to move things again. If you leave too much room, you run out of cabinets and have to move things again. Its a loose- loose situation. Kim also taught me how to mail different things and record them in the book. Beth had me add up sales tax. That's not hard, just time consuming.
A lot has changed since the last trimester. Working after school has helped me get better with talking to clients face to face and on the phone. Actually, on Saturday Kim and I were talking with April and she mentioned how much I talk now compared to when I first started. I was really quiet before and now I'm more comfortable joining conversations with everybody in the office. I've improved with the payrolls and bank recs. Last trimester Bobby or Beth would have to sit with me when I did bank recs because I would always make mistakes. Now I'm able to balance (most of the time) without help. I'm still working on figuring out the left side of the bank recs, but its getting easier. I also want to get better with printing payroll reports. This week was pretty good. Beth got some new stuff in so I sorted and added it up for her. I did a payroll for Bobby and he also showed me how to type up invoices. (I think that's what they were, I can't remember). Karen did my taxes for me and it was pretty cool to be able to put away my own file. She also showed me how to fax stuff because I forgot how. I worked with Kim a lot this week. She had me put together bags to give to clients. I had to put a pen and a calendar in a bag and then put the bag in a drawer. She showed me how to print labels on envelops. It was really easy, but if you put more than a couple envelops in at a time the printer gets "jammed". Kim and I also moved files around in the filing cabinets to make more room. We boxed up a bunch of old companies and we were able to file away a couple files that we didn't have room for. Oh! And we found decorative bricks inside the cabinets! Kim gave me a Saint Clair Shoresopoly game that looks awesome but I haven't gotten the chance to play it yet.
Things that make me happy 1. My job 2. My family 3. My ferret and cat 4. My friends 5. Banana coffee 6. Nice weather 7. Caring people 8. The beach This week was great! I worked with Kim a lot this week. She had me stamp envelopes, fold letters, and pull/ put away files. She also taught me how to use the mail machine and change the tape in my calculator. It was a pretty easy week. On Saturday Bobby had me do a payroll that took me forever to put in the computer. When I finished, my numbers were off so I then had to go through everything again and look for the mistakes. I put in the same information for two different people by accident, but it took a long time to figure that out. I also seen a few people that I know on Saturday! One was my friends dad and the other was my old lunch mom from elementary school. I feel like I'm missing something with this post, but I cant think of what it is. Sorry its not longer this week! (Kim told me to take pictures of everything this week, so I did )
